  1. Introduction

  1. Welcome to Easy Damage Pro, a robust Blender node group meticulously crafted to streamline the process of integrating procedural damage effects into your 3D models. Whether you are engaged in animation, game asset creation, or architectural visualizations, Easy Damage Pro stands ready to elevate your workflow.
    Installation
The installation of Easy Damage Pro offers multiple options. Upon purchase, you will receive a blend file. Open this file in Blender to access an example scene illustrating common parameter values. Use this scene as a template if desired. Alternatively, you can append the node group to your project by selecting 'append' from the file menu, navigating to the downloaded blend file, and choosing the 'damage' node group located under 'Node Trees.'
Once the 'damage' node is integrated into your project, either through appending or using the starter template, the usage is straightforward. Select the object you wish to damage and add a 'geometry nodes' modifier to the modifier stack. Then, click the dropdown menu next to the 'New' button and select 'Damage.' This action will reveal the node interface, which we will explore in the next section.

  1. User Interface

  1. Voxel Remesh: If true, performs a voxel remesh on input geometry. Useful for damaging simple low-poly shapes; default = False.
Damage Material: Material to assign to damaged areas of the mesh.
Init Material: Material to apply to non-damaged areas of the mesh.
Use External Noise: If true, uses an external noise texture for the damage pattern.
External Noise: A noise texture to use if 'Use External Noise' is True.
    External UV: UV map input.
Edge Damage Only: If true, restricts damage to sharp edges only.
Material Thickness: Essentially controls the depth of the damage.
Damage Bias: Increases damage from a specific angle.
Damage Scale: Size of the noise used for the damage pattern.
Damage Detail: Detail of the noise used for the damage pattern.
Damage Distort: Distortion of the noise used for the damage pattern.
Edge Damage: Thickness of damage on sharp edges.
Damage Amount: Overall amount of damage.
Damage Resolution: Voxel size for voxel mesh.

  1. Tips & Tricks

  1. When damaging a simple low-poly object, voxel remesh is required, even though it is off by default.
Voxel remesh may crash Blender if starting from a high enough polygon count.
