Geometry Node Group:

Unlike an addon, Easy Damage Pro offers complete control and customization without needing to write a single line of Python code. Plus, nodes by default provide a non-destructive and efficient way to incorporate procedural edge damage into your meshes.

Material Separation:

You can assign separate materials for damaged and un-damaged areas, directly from the node interface. If you need more control, Easy Damage Pro outputs attributes that can be accessed from the Shader Node Editor with an Attribute Node.


Attributes include:

  • orig_normal - A vector attribute preserving the original normal vector before any damage is applied
  • damage_mask - A float attribute indicating damaged areas with a mask(0=un-damaged... 1=damaged
  • edge_mask - A float attribute that(attempts) to mask the conceptual edges of the mesh. By conceptual I mean the edges that are structurally significant to the design, as opposed to all polygonal edges.

Known Limitations:

EasyDamage Pro works best with low poly, symmetrical, block-like shapes. Your mileage may vary with more complex models. Here are a few things to try if you're not getting the results you want...

Caution: All of these methods will alter the geometry of your model. Back up your work first just to be safe

  • Turn off Voxel_Remesh and(if needed) add a Remesh modifier before Easy Damage Pro
  • Enter edit mode and scale the entire model up or down(you can always scale it back to the original size with geometry nodes after Easy Damage Pro)
  • Right-click the model in the 3d viewport, and from the context menu select "convert to" > "Mesh"
