Model objectives

Thank you for choosing this 3D helicopter model.
I am sure it will fulfill your needs as it has been designed to be simple, self adjusting, very powerfull and ready to go in any of your scene.
This model is 370k vertices without subsurf, render calculation is fast.
There are lots of details, like the rivet lines on the fuselage and the detailed cockpit with the pilots.
The helicopter's main rotor and tail rotate at optimal speed for 25fps video.
The white flashing position lights flash automatically.
The turbines automatically generate particles (smoke) for hot air distortion.
This model is intended to be integrated into an architectural scene, images or films, so that the artist can concentrate on the composition of the scene.

Setup and adjustements

  • Be sure to use the Cycles Render engine.
  • Dimensions are in meters and correspond to the real model, scale 1:1.
  • You need to bake the 2 objects "SmokeEmitter_RH" and "SmokeEmitter_LH" in the Particle Properties, Cache, Bake all Dynamics tab.
  • Eventually, change the number of frames and the number of particles (300 and 300 by default).
  • The rotation speed of the main rotor is done with the "MainRotorMast" object.
  • The rotation speed of the tail rotor is done with the "TailRotor" object.
  • The movement of the whole helicopter is done with the "Body" object.
  • The pilots have their own armature/rigging which can be modified.
