Antique Style Dining Set

Illustrated documentation is included.

Please note that some materials used in this model make use of the Color Mix node.  If this model is to be used with Blender 3.4 and later, the Color Mix node will automatically be converted to the newer Mix node which replaces it, and should look and render fine.  However, once converted and saved with Blender 3.4 and later, the material will no longer work with Blender versions prior to 3.4.

Description:

This is a set of models of an antique style dining table and chairs.  The table is made of polished walnut, and the chairs are walnut with a floral upholstered seat.  There are two “captain’s”chairs with arms at each end, and six dining chairs around the table.  The table length can be adjusted through a geometry nodes modifier,  and the instanced chairs can be duplicated or deleted based on the desired number of chairs.  The dining set would look good in a period scene as well as a contemporary scene.  The models are of sufficient detail that they will render well in close-up.

Usage:

The models are contained in a single .blend file with all textures/images/materials packed inside.  To use this in your scene, you can append it as follows:

Go to the File Menu and pull down to Append

Find the “Dining_Set.blend” file and Double Click on it.

Double Click on the Collection icon.

Select the “Append_Antique_Dining_Set” collection and Click Append

There are three models, the Dining Table, the Dining_Chair_with_Arms, and the Dining Chair, each of these models and their instances are parented to individual master Empty Items represented by a labeled axis which can be used to adjust the location and orientation of the models.  The overall Dining Set also has a large master Empty Item which can be used to adjust the location and orientation of the set.

To adjust the length of the table, select the table top object and in the geometry nodes modifier in the modifier properties tab, you can see a value of 96 inches as the table length from end to end.  This can be set in the range of 50 inches to 200 inches.

To add additional chair instances, select the desired chair in the Outliner, right click and select “Select Hierarchy”.  After this press Alt D to create another instance.  Use the Empty Item to set its location and orientation. Repeat as desired.

Technical:

The Antique Style Dining Set was modeled in Blender 3.2 and uses PBR shaders.  It uses Geometry nodes and therefore requires Blender 3.0 or later.

These subdivision modifiers will display when rendered, but are not currently set to display in the 3D viewport. They can be enabled by clicking on the viewport icon in the subdivision modifier in the modifier properties tab for each part.
Images were rendered in Cycles.  All materials work in Eevee as well.
