4K Animated Grayscale Texture Loops

by Studio Speets in Surfacing

Do these textures tile nicely?
No, not necessarily. Due to their very nature of being (in a lot of cases) simulations of effects, these textures do not always tile nicely. You can get away with Box Projecting the UV's and Blending the edges though. Or maybe infuse some randomness into the UV's with a Noise node. They are 1:1 ratio 4096x4096 or 2048x2048 textures though, so adding them to a square Plane will give the best results fastest.

There are some textures that do tile nicely, like the Geo category, because they're animations made with geometric shapes and patterns.

Other than that, these textures have a near infinite amount of uses and can be used in most 2D, 3D, video, animation and comping software that supports high resolution .mp4 videos.

Are these loops seamless?

Basically! While every texture was intended to be made a seamless loop, some techniques that are used (like smoke simulations or randomized glitching) are quite difficult to loop truly seamlessly. In those cases the loop has been achieved in post production or through precise keyframing and the seam is in most cases very hard to spot.

Also, all videos are 10 seconds or longer, so you have to look quite long at the texture before the loop even occurs.

Can I use this in other software?

Yes! The animated textures are high quality .mp4 files. They can be used in most 2D, 3D, video, animation and comping software that supports high resolution .mp4 videos.

How do I use this?

Drag one of the animated textures into Blender and plug the Image Texture node into Emission, Alpha, Displacement etc. or any other channel that supports .mp4 and/or Color data.
