Tinsellator

by Martin Preston in Modifier Setups

This is a simple Geometry Node setup that will turn any Bezier Curve into a sparkly strand of tinsel garland. Just add the Geometry Node modifier to your curve and the tinsel will appear. Instant glitz !

Once there you can make adjustments to the scale, fullness, shagginess and colour & style of the tinsel. Included in the file are 20 different tinsel styles, all of which you can see in the images. If you can't find what you need in my selection, creating your own colours and styles is a fairly simple matter. Instructions can be found in the FAQ section or pdf file.

Once the Geometry Nodes are attached, you still have full freedom to adjust the strand to your liking - it can still be extended, subdivided and twisted just as you please. Either create within my file and copy it out to your scene or copy one strand of tinsel out and design in your own file.

The file offered is the scene that created the featured image with tinsel draped around the word 'Tinsellator'. It doesn't have examples of every tinsel strand, but any tinsel strand can become any other at the click of a button. Also in there is Suzanne with tinsel eyebrows and beard to demonstrate how to tinsellate a mesh with vertex groups.

Look up the Documentation tab for more details.

So tinsel away with need to hoover the carpet afterwards, what's not to love.
