    I'm not seeing a desktop notification?

    For some users, you'll need to restart Blender after installing the add-on. This will fix this issue 

    Does this notify me if I just render a single image?

    No, this only works on a Rendered Animation. This is due to a limitation with Blender's API, there's no way around it.
