This addon only seems to work for very basic use cases. Alot of rigs will not work well with this addon as it will generate rigid bodies for bones that are not part of the Deformation Skeleton Layer. As far as I can see, there is no way to specify what bones or layers this addon should affect. Therefore if you have a nice rigged character with a nice armature that has lots of of control layers, this addon will not work. Animating a character with only a basic Deformation skeleton is a nightmare, so I can't say this addon is helpful for me. However if you only wish to ragdoll something basic with a character with a basic one layer armature, then this addon will work for you.

      Hi.
Yes,automatic generation doesn't work well for complex multi layer rigs
In such case try the following:

1.Define bones that should be controlled by hitboxes

      2.Make hitboxes from these bones
      https://youtu.be/lobKcsbQqSY?si=5w-UQkfX5EUSdNiS&t=526

3.Connect hitboxes using "Selected to active" method
      https://youtu.be/lobKcsbQqSY?si=OcHWsLYkPyUVFblL&t=477
If you have to connect many bones in a row do not call the operator
from pie menu every time.Call it for the first pair and use "Shift-R" for the rest

      Hi.
Check if the neck bone has a hitbox.
If it still doesn't work contact me via private messages.

I really haven’t gotten this to work at all. I’m really sad since there have been projects were I really would have needed it to work. And I have not seen that many tutorials discussing common mistakes or anything because I follow your tutorial and create constraints, after that you show the rag doll working and EVERY time my rig explodes into a million pieces, this could be used to explode humans but sorry this has for me been malfunctioning since day one and I’ve had it for half a year. Help and I may change my rating but I can’t rate an addon which has not been working any higher than this.

Don’t want to be disgraceful, but I am disappointed. Hope that you can help me or update the addon.

      Hi.
Unfortunately you can't change the rating.
Exploding ragdoll is a quite common issue and usually it's quite easy to fix using the addon.
      https://youtu.be/lobKcsbQqSY?t=457
Of course it's CGI and it's not always that easy, especially if you are using complex rigs in complex scenes.
So contact me via private messages and i'll try to help.

I like this addon, it makes the entire process of making ragdoll easier. It deserves 5 stars, it makes quite good and sometimes hilarious ragdolls. I think it's worth the money. Well, you still gotta like adjust many settings to make it look how you want it too but that's not hard. The hitboxes often are kinda generating weird, and constraints are sometimes not really working but I can fix that manually. This is a good addon, it has some issues and I hope they'll get fixed.

The demo blend file looked good. I knew what I wanted to do. But I'm new to Blender and didn't understand Rigid bodies. The discussion site gave a good hint to what I wanted. I then found a good tutorial of rigid bodies. That's when I learned I could turn off Dynamics on any of the hitboxes (and turn on Animated) and parent that to an animated object. It may have been said in the tutorials. And seems simple now. But having the figure hang from a helicopter is exactly what I wanted. The results are great.

Everything I tried just ended up with a breakdancing mess of polygon spaghetti and it crashed Blender with alarming frequency. I managed to get a dummy to collapse properly once and as far as I can tell I didn't do anything differently that time to the two dozen other times. Unfortunately It crashed Blender before I could save it so I can't even check to see what I did.

I think this is probably useful for some people, maybe more advanced users, but I couldn't work it out. I've gone with 3 stars because it probably works but if it's not particularly user friendly or stable.

      Hi.
What version of blender are you using?
Anyway, contact me,i need more data to resolve these issues.

Really helpful works as described once it works with more complex rigs (auto-rig pro among others) it'll be a real-life/time saver =)
still worth it though! super excited for the future updates! :>

Great little addon, helped me rig my character's hair up so that I can animate it with "dynamic bones" instead of using softbody physics, saving me processing time and money. A root bone/hit box at the base of the strands are set to "Animated" so that it follows the rest of the head, while the children hit boxes that influence the rest of the hair strand are left "Dynamic", moving freely.

TL;DR - Confusing documentation, but does what it says on the tin.

While this addon has confusing and difficult documentation, and for me even required my own scripts to make work, it is very useful once you get it working.

With this addon, I have now successfully added ragdoll physics to my animated character, and can now toggle rag-doll physics on and off at will during my animation.

For my personal use case, I created a script with an "Enable Ragdoll" and "Disable Ragdoll" button, which mass-performs actions that the addon doesn't do itself such as:
    * Binding hand IK bones to the hands & feet IK bones to the feet during ragdoll animation
    * Mass-editing the "animated" and "follow bone" values on all ragdoll hitboxes to quickly enable/disable ragdoll physics
    * Automatically disable physics for ALL frames once animation is baked - otherwise physics will occur on top of your baked animation, making it impossible to return from ragdoll animation to keyframe animation

Currently, with lazy keyframe animation, my result is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0bVvmRaQXM
