Model Train Collection

by Cameron Schmaltz 3D in Models

The documentation lists a summary of features for this collection.

About The Collection

This collection includes a model train, train tracks, and a simple animation for the model train. The model train is separated into 5 parts that have been parented together to create one complete model. The model train has a high poly count making it great for rendering but can also be used in game development.

Animation

The included animation is a sample but complete which shows how the model train can follow a custom track. It is 2000 frames long and in 60 FPS. The animation can be found in the blend file and in FBX format. Other formats are included with the models found for the animation however no animation is exported.

Textures

The model train has been divided into 5 parts and each part has its own set of PBR textures. They come in 4K, 2K, and 1K resolutions with the 4K resolution being pre-applied in all blend files. The textures can be swapped out with lower resolutions and are labeled in the node editor when using Blender. The texture parts have been grouped together in the best way that makes sense.

Each model has been manually UV unwrapped and uses overlapping UVs on duplicate parts such as small details. Parts that need higher details will not have overlapping UVs such as text.

Model Exports

Each model has been exported in FBX, OBJ, GLTF/GLB, and DAE/Collada file formats as well as in their native blend files. The animation can be found in the blend file as well as in FBX format under the file name “ModelTrainAndTracks.fbx”. The other model exports will import without animations.

Lighting and Rendering

Each model in every blend file will have their materials/textures pre-applied. There is also lighting from the included HDRi and camera setups to easily render from. Opening any blend file will allow you to render right away as well as see the material for the selected model. Rendered images, wireframes, and some extras are included. All images have been rendered using the Cycles engine in Blender.

A help document is included which outlines information that might be handy when using this collection.
