Pittosporum eugenioides, common names lemonwood or tarata, is a species of New Zealand native evergreen tree. Growing to 12 m tall by 5 m broad, it is conical when young but more rounded in shape when mature. Lemonwood is an attractive tree, commonly found in forest and regenerating scrub. It is easily distinguished from other plants by its glossy yellow-green leaves that when crushed emit a strong lemon scent. Its leaves are mottled yellow-green with curly edges and a salient bright midrib.
